Cable Cutting

Cable Cutting

It’s more common now to meet people who don’t have cable. It has become an overpriced commodity and Americans are tired of being weighed down by a monthly subscription to 300 channels and only watching a hand full. Cable companies have made a fortune in selling internet, phone, and cable services in bundles therefore limiting a customer’s option of picking and choosing what works for their home. With the onset of streaming devices like Firestick and Roku, cable consumers have switched over to these devices making use of applications that stream their favorite shows at a fraction of the price of cable services. As a user of a Firestick, I can’t imagine myself ever going back to cable. I am convinced like Blockbuster and such, cable will be obsolete in the next 10 years.

In this age, it is important to remain innovative or the next “big” thing will come along and replace you. Cable has been part of the American home for decades without competition and now, finally, we have options. Even within the limitations that cable companies offered us, we were not given options to which provider to use as there are restrictions for what is available in your area. For those who are not as tech savvy or inclined to utilize a streaming device, you could purchase an antenna which will allow you to watch local channels at no cost. But unfortunately, with this change, senior citizens have a learning curve as it’s difficult to learn this now streaming world. So, what happens now? Time will tell!

Nice Carl
