Pay Attention to Your Smaller Finances

By | Main Blog | No Comments

Do you know where your money is going and what you are spending it on every week? Don’t feel bad you’re not the only one. A lot of us just spend, spend, spend and don’t even take into account if we can really afford it or not. I suggest maybe taking an inventory on where that money is going and where it really needs to be going. You can start by budgeting or creating some type of chart to break down your purchases. Budget. After you figure out how you are going to log your spending you have to train yourself to stop spending where it is not needed. It is so easy for us to waste money, we all do it. Now that we are logging where our money is going, it will help us to cut back because we can see where we are being blatantly wasteful with our money. Don’t waste money. Now we all give in to that peer pressure of friends and family when it comes to money. We always want to help where we can, but often we really can’t afford to help. We feel like we have to help because of our relationship….

Meditation Experience

By | Main Blog | No Comments

My meditation experience Day 1 My first meditation was an in class meditation. Sitting still for ten minutes was the toughest thing in meditation. After five minutes, my legs started to feel numb and my concentration faded away. Breathing is what humans do without even realizing, but I could not breathe well when I tried to focus on my breathing. Moreover, I felt difficulty to even hear the sound of my breath. Another thing I realized was that something that never bothers me could really bother me during the meditation. Sounds of other people breathing and the noise of my fellow classmates meditating during the meditation. The more I tried to focus, the more I became distracted. During the time of meditation, my hatred towards meditation grew and I even started to blame the existence of meditation itself. After the meditation, it made me realize how I needed to be more open minded and maybe stop trying to focus on the meditation so much and just let it happen and allow my mind to just go on its own. Day 2 As I expected, today’s meditation was as tough as yesterday’s. During the meditation, I was wondering how I can…

The book has an opening dedication to the conduct of great men and the principles of princely government specifically enlightening Lorenzo de Medici. Machiavelli speaks of four different types of principalities in this book. Hereditary principalities are inherited by the ruler. Mixed principalities are territories that are next to the ruler’s existing territories. New principalities can be acquired in a few different ways; by one’s own power, by the power of others, by criminal acts, or by the will of the people. Ecclesiastical principalities are first and foremost the Papal States belonging to the Catholic church. Machiavelli explains that a prince must always being aware of military affairs and stay up to date in order to stay in power. There are also four different types of armies. Mercenaries are hired soldiers who are for the most part troubling and untrustworthy. Auxiliaries are soldiers that are loaned to you in a time of need by another ruler who are also dangerous and unreliable. Native troops are the best and most trustworthy because they are one’s own citizens or subjects. Mixed troops are a combination of…

Happy Easter!

By | Main Blog | No Comments

Hippity, Hoppity, Happity Easter! Whether it’s about church or chocolate, people all over the country are getting ready for the Easter celebration. Religious Significance: This weekend we come together with family and friends to celebrate Easter, a holiday of the Christian Church celebrating Jesus’ Resurrection from the dead. It is a movable feast because it does not fall on the same day every year. For the Christian Church, Easter is really an entire season. Christians prepare for Easter during Lent which is the 40 day period leading up to Easter Sunday. During Lent, Christians take this time for penance and reflection. The day before Lent is what we call Mardi Gras or Fat Tuesday. Mardi Gras is the last day of food and fun before Christians begin Lent and fasting. The week before Easter is called Holy Week and includes Maundy Thursday, which observes Jesus’ last supper with his disciples; Good Friday, which recognizes the day of his crucifixion; and Holy Saturday, which focuses on the transition between the crucifixion and resurrection. The 50-day period following Easter Sunday is called Eastertide and includes a celebration of Jesus’ ascension into heaven. However, Easter was celebrated by the pagans long before it became a Christian…
